Education and Native People
This course examines the politics, processes, and methods involved in the education and socialization of Native people. Aboriginal and Euro-Canadian approaches to learning and to pedagogy, both past and present, are comparatively examined. The course emphasizes consideration of the Native people's efforts to realize greater degrees of self-determination through control of educational programs and institutions. Selected models of Native alternative schools and Native Studies programs are examined in this context. (lec 3) cr 6. Students may not retain credit for both INDG 3005 and NATI 3005.
