Native Women: Perspectives and Issues

This course is concerned with the experiences of Native women in Canada from pre-contact times until the current era. Views of women that have predominated in different eras, as manifested in Native mythology, by the structures of Native societies, and in the historical record and government policies, are related to the challenges that have emerged and continue to confront Aboriginal women. Native women's responses to these issues are also examined. (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for both INDG 2216 and NATI 2216.
